Announcing the Inaugural McAlister, MD, MIR Grand Rounds Lecture

This year, in conjunction with the 2024 Evens Society Alumni Weekend, we are honored to host the first annual William H. McAlister, MD, MIR Grand Rounds Lecture at noon on Friday, September 6.

Our inaugural speaker is Alan Daneman, MD, professor of pediatric imaging for Temerty Medicine at the University of Toronto. His talk will be “The Role of Sonography in the Diagnosis and Follow-Up of Neonates with Necrotizing Enterocolitis.”

Since 1979, Dr. Daneman has been at The Hospital for Sick Children (SickKids), a top-ranked research and pediatric teaching hospital located in Toronto. He has given several named lectures, including the John P. Caffey and the John Arthur Kirkpatrick Memorial Lectures, and in 2005 received the Jack O. Haller Award for Excellence in Teaching from the Society for Pediatric Radiology.

William H. McAlister, MD, is a professor of radiology and pediatrics with a more than 60-year career of advancing the field of pediatric radiology. He served as section chief of pediatric radiology at MIR and St. Louis Children’s Hospital for more than 40 years before stepping down in 2006. McAlister has held multiple leadership positions at the medical center and nationally, including serving as president of the Society for Pediatric Radiology and in 1998 he received its prestigious Gold Medal for his many seminal contributions to pediatric radiology.
